Why Manchester United must not sell De Gea to Real Madrid – Herrera

Ander Herrera has said Manchester United cannot afford to lose David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer.

The La Liga champions are ready to test United’s resolve to keep De Gea, with a £60million bid for their long-term target,

The Spain goalkeeper almost moved to Madrid two years ago, but the move collapsed on deadline day.

But ahead of their clash with Real Madrid on Sunday, De Gea’s United and Spain team-mate Herrera, underlined the importance of keeping the stopper at Old Trafford.

“I’m repeating myself every day, but he’s a goalkeeper who can give you points and that’s very important,” said Herrera.

“I want to keep him here, to play with him, because he’s a fantastic keeper and also my friend.

“I think you can see he’s very focused on Manchester United and he’s doing a fantastic job for us.

“It’s like if you were to lose the top three in any position – like David is, like [Paul] Pogba is, like [Romelu] Lukaku is, like Marcus Rashford can be.

“We don’t want to lose them, we want to keep them, and David is in the top three. For me, he’s the best in the world, so I want to keep him here at United.”
