Manchester United to pay half of Rooney’s wages as striker heads to Everton

Manchester United will have to pay half of Wayne Rooney’s £250,000-a-week wages, for his loan move to Everton to go ahead.
United are in talks with Everton over the deal, that will see Rooney return to Goodison Park 13 years after he left for Old Trafford.
Although the Red Devils want to offload the 31-year-old on a permanent basis, Everton are not ready to match his huge salary. However, they would be willing to pay half of it, as part of a loan arrangement.

Rooney will become a free agent next summer when his contract expires.
The player’s agent, Paul Stretford, is in talks with Everton over the proposed switch, although there are several hurdles to clear before any deal is finalised.
Rooney is set to be omitted from United’s pre-season tour of the US, with Jose Mourinho and his squad leaving for Los Angeles on Sunday.
