Jose Mourihno discloses why he did not bring back Javier Hernandez
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has revealed why he failed to bring back West Ham new signing Javier Hernandez to Old Trafford.
Former United favourite Hernandez has just signed for West Ham for a very reasonable fee of £16 million, in the only deal this season that hasn’t broken the world transfer record.
The 29-year-old is a proven goal-scorer at Bayer Leverkusen with 39 goals in 76 games and performed well at United before he managed decent tallies without being a starter.
Mourinho, who was asked during a press conference on Tuesday, said, “No, because he left the club a few years ago, and I’m not sure that it was his decision or the manager’s decision.
“But he’s a good player, he’s a player that will always score goals, he is a player that I would always welcome in my squad because he doesn’t need many minutes on the pitch to score a goal.
“We moved in another direction in a younger player in Lukaku, and we have Rashford that can also be a striker, originally he’s a striker, so we didn’t feel that need.
“But no doubt for West Ham to get a player with his experience and quality is very, very good,” Mourihno concluded.
