Diego Costa close to sealing Atletico Madrid return

Diego Costa is on the verge of re-joining Atletico Madrid from Chelsea.

Spanish newspaper, AS, reports that Atletico coach Diego Simeone is very keen on landing Costa before the new season begins, even though he will not be able to play until January 2018.

The La Liga club cannot register any new players until January 2, because of the transfer ban, which means Costa will simply be training with them until then.

Atletico will not loan out the 28-year-old to a club in China or Brazil either.

Costa, who has scored 59 goals in 120 appearances in three seasons at Stamford Bridge, was informed by manager Antonio Conte last month to look for a new team.
