“Subject to the completion of all regulatory processes, the defender will start pre-season training in July.”

'City eyeing Bertrand'

Manchester City are discussing a move for Southampton and England left back Ryan Bertrand, reports the Daily Mail.
Apparently, Monaco’s £40million valuation of Benjamin Mendy is seen as too much by City and negotiations - though ongoing - have stalled.
England defender Bertrand is seen as an alternative.

Bellerin coy on Barca move

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has refused to rule out a move to Barcelona - and admits it is a big compliment to be linked with the Catalan giants.
The Spanish right-back came through the academy at the Nou Camp before moving to Arsenal in 2011.
He continues to be linked with a return with new boss Ernesto Valverde reportedly giving the go-ahead for a £45million move.
Bellerin has remained coy about a potential switch this summer with Barca expected to move for a right-back.
“You never know what could happen.
“Its a club that I grew up in as a kid, the best club in the world.”

Jonny Hayes talks Celtic move...

One from our pals at the Daily Record now:
Aberdeen star man Jonny Hayes admits he was aware of Celtic’s interest in him for a ‘while now’.
The Republic of Ireland winger is believed to be closing in on a deal to join the Premiership champions after another excellent campaign with the Dons.
The 29-year-old says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Parkhead this summer.
He said:
We’ve obviously known about it for a while now.
There have been a few things developing with the club.
It means you are doing something right if somebody else is taking a look.
You can take it as a compliment. As far as I’m aware I am still an Aberdeen player.
I enjoy it there and it’s an old cliche but we’ll wait and see what happens.
I just wanted to finish the season with Aberdeen and I signed a new deal there in January.

The Portuguese international told Spanish radio station Cope:
“I don’t want to blame anyone. What Zidane has done with Real Madrid is spectacular, but there are things I don’t understand. I didn’t say goodbye to Zidane because Zidane and Real Madrid knew I was going before I did.
“It is clear that I will not continue at Real Madrid,’ he confirmed, with his contract set to expire this summer. One stage is over and, from now on, another one will start.
“There are more offers, also from England.”

Ajax will reportedly receive €4.3million as compensation, with an announcement expected at 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Italian giants AC Milan have requested a second meeting with the advisors of Celtic star Moussa Dembele, as they continue their hunt for the 20-year-old.
Dembele enjoyed a breakthrough debut season at Celtic Park after moving north of the border from Fulham and has a host of Europe’s big guns on notice - including the Rossoneri, exclusively reports the Daily Record.
Milan chiefs made first contact with the player’s representatives last month, and are now looking for a second sit down for the £30million-rated Hoops star.

Tuesday's Man United transfer gossip

With Real Madrid set to again test Manchester United’s resolve with a fresh move for goalkeeper David de Gea, the Red Devils are planning for life without the Spanish stopper.
And according to the Daily Mail, the club have drawn up a shortlist of goalkeepers that they will pursue, should De Gea return to his homeland.
Manchester City’s Joe Hart is on that list following his loan spell at Torino this season.
The England glovesman is joined by AC Milan starlet Gianluigi Donnarumma and Inter’s Samir Handanovic.
It is believed that United will only let De Gea leave if a hefty bid comes their way.

Lazio boss Inzaghi set to sign up again

Lazio have handed manager Simone Inzaghi a new deal.
“I’m very happy to have renewed with Lazio,” Inzaghi told Sky Sports Italia.
“All that is missing are the signatures, and they will arrive soon. I’m happy to continue, we hope to do great things next season.
“Everything is shared with my staff and the players, but what I like is the enthusiasm we brought to the people. Seeing 50,000 at the Olimpico makes me very proud.”

Tuesday's Arsenal transfer gossip

Arsenal have reportedly joined Tottenham and Manchester City in the race for Djibril Sidibe as they consider a replacement for Hector Bellerin.
The Daily Star report that the 24-year-old has been watched by the Premier League’s top clubs with a view to a summer move.
And Arsenal might have to swoop for a new right-back if Bellerin completes a move to Barcelona this summer.
Sidibe, a French international, only joined Monaco from Lille last summer but played an integral part of Monaco’s Ligue 1 win.
They are believed to be prepared to listed to their offers for any of their stars - despite already selling Bernardo Silva to City.

Tuesday's Liverpool transfer gossip

Liverpool appear to have won the race to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk - more on that one below - and Mamadou Sakho could be included as part of the deal.
Dutch defender Van Dijk is set to be the latest Southampton player to swap the south coast for Anfield but this time Saints could be set to receive a player in return, according to the Telegraph.
They claim that the Reds will to and use players in a part-exchange deal, with out-of-favour Sakho will the top of their list.
Saints were reportedly interested in the French defender in January, but were put off by the Reds’ £30million pricetag.
He instead joined Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season becoming a key part of the Eagles’ successful battle against the drop.

United close in on Lindelof deal

Jose Mourinho is poised to make £35million Benfica defender Victor Lindelof the first signing of his summer revamp.
The Manchester United boss, set to spend big ahead of a title bid next season, will finally land the 22-year-old Sweden international he has been chasing since January.
Speaking in Portugal on Monday, Mourinho refused to rule out the swoop.
He said: “I will not say if I want him or not, I don’t think it’s right.
“Rui [Vitoria, Benfica’s manager] is not going to be happy with another club manager talking about a player who is his, the president would not be happy to see that.”

Janssen on Spurs' future

Vincent Janssen has revealed he is “keeping all options open” after a nightmare first season at Tottenham.
Dutch striker Janssen intends to make a decision on his future once he returns from his summer holidays.
With much expected of him following his £17million switch from AZ Alkmaar last summer, Janssen scored just six goals for Spurs — and four of those were penalties.
In February, he insisted he’d given himself a year to make an impact and that he would change fans’ opinion of him by the end of the campaign.

Klopp: I'm not crazy to be so optimistic

Jurgen Klopp insists he is not crazy to be optimistic about the future despite admitting Liverpool have a lot of improvements to make.
The Reds secured Champions League football for only the second time in the last eight years on the final day of a season in which they looked like mounting an unlikely title challenge until the turn of the year.
With extra demands on his squad Klopp is already looking to strengthen with negotiations still taking place to buy Roma’s former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah for a club-record £35million-plus.
But after finishing his first full campaign in charge the German has high hopes about what can be achieved next season.

Lacazette open to Premier League move

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has admitted a move to the Premier League would be of interest to him.
The 26-year-old’s future has again come under the microscope after a proposed move to Atletico Madrid was halted when the Spanish side saw their appeal again a transfer ban denied.
That has again alerted the likes of Arsenal , Liverpool and Manchester United, who have all tracked the Frenchman in recent months.
Lacazette netted 37 times for OL during the 2016-17 season and he appears to be keeping his options open.
The France international was asked about the possibility of moving to the Premier League in a Facebook Live interview with Eurosport, saying: “That could be an interesting option, it is a great league with interesting teams.”

Bayern join Lukaku chase

Manchester United have a new rival in the race to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku after Bayern Munich joined the race for the Belgian’s services.
The Red Devils are keen on signing a forward with Zlatan Ibrahimovic unlikely to play again in 2017, report the Manchester Evening News.
Lukaku, who briefly worked with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, is a serious option along with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Torino’s Andrea Belotti.
While the Blues’ interest in re-signing the Belgium international has been well-documented, Bayern have now entered the race.

O'Neill urges Westwood to leave Hillsborough

Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has urged Kieren Westwood to leave Sheffield Wednesday.
Westwood impressed for the Boys In Green against Uruguay, but O’Neill thinks he needs to move to the Premier League to further his career.
“Westwood has been really patient waiting in the wings,” he said. “I know Keiren well myself — a very talented goalkeeper.
“Keiren is Keiren. I’ve known him for some time and personally I think, as talent goes, he has enough to play in the Premier League. No question about that.
“I want him to have the enthusiasm and ambition to do so. But that’s up to him. I like Keiren but he’s in a wee world of his own.
“Westwood is a top-class goalkeeper, a real natural talent. To go to the very, very top, you need not to just have natural talent but also drive, determination and everything else.
“If he keeps himself properly fit and doesn’t sustain serious injuries then goalkeepers can go for a fairly lengthy time.
“He’s highly-thought-of at Sheffield Wednesday; he’s done really well over the last couple of years there. His kicking, he pings the ball all over the pitch. He can place 50-yard balls to people.
“He’s a really fine goalkeeper and he’s actually a really good lad but he needs moving.”

Wenger drops big Mbappe hint

Arsene Wenger has dropped a major transfer hint on Kylian Mbappe - and warned he must join a club where he will be the main man.
Gunners boss Wenger is a huge admirer of the Monaco teenager and confirmed that Mbappe is worth his £100m valuation.
But while Arsenal are keen, they have yet to bid for Mbappe who is also a target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.
France boss Didier Deschamps has also warned Mbappe to go to a club which will play him and manage his career carefully.
Wenger, in an interview with beIN Sports, said: “Where do you think he might finish? Somewhere where he has a good chance to play and is sure to play. That is why I think Deschamps made that statement.”

This could be awkward...

Liverpool appear to be closing in on a move for in-demand Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, but Reds’ centre-back Dejan Lovren appears unmoved by the prospect of his potential new team-mate.
Jurgen Klopp looks to have pipped Chelsea and Manchester City for Van Dijk in what would likely be a club record move for the £50million rated Dutch international, report the Liverpool Echo .
Lovren was fielding questions during the club’s recent trip to Sydney when he was asked about the potential arrival of Van Dijk and the Croatian was not impressed with what he was asked.
Unprepared to answer questions about the Van Dijk transfer saga, Lovren walked away from a reporter.

Holding set for new Arsenal deal

Arsenal are to offer central defender Rob Holding a new contract.
The 21-year-old was signed from Bolton last summer for £2.1 million.
He was regarded by manager Arsene Wenger as an investment for the future.
But he has been so impressive in the first team appearances he has made that the club will now give him a pay rise that will put him in the £25,000 a week bracket less than a year after he joined.
He was outstanding in the 2-1 FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea when he was paired with Per Mertesacker to solve a central defensive crisis for Wenger who was without Laurent Koscielny through suspension and Gabriel and Shkodran Mustafi because of injury.
And the duo subdued the threat posed by Chelsea’s Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.
In total, Holding played 18 first team matches – nine in the Premier League, five in the FA Cup, three in the League Cup and one in Europe.

United playing the long game over Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann will not be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, leaving Manchester United safe in the knowledge that a deal can be resurrected next summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The French international was United’s No.1 summer transfer target - until Atletico’s transfer ban was upheld and United’s attention switched to a bona-fide No.9.
Griezmann, 26, suggested leaving Atleti would be a “low blow” to the club that have helped him fulfil his potential, with the club unable to sign a replacement until January next year.
Crucially, neither Griezmann nor United have dismissed the prospect of a deal in the future.

Liverpool win Van Dijk race

Liverpool have won the heavyweight fight with Manchester City and Chelsea for Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds will make Van Dijk the most expensive defender in football history, after the Holland international confirmed he has chosen them ahead of the two Premier League giants.
All three clubs have been talking with the Southampton star for the past few weeks, as they attempted to sell their vision of the future to the centre half.
But it was the charisma and enthusiasm of boss Jurgen Klopp that persuaded Van Dijk to choose the Anfield project, with people close to the player suggesting he was impressed by the passion the German coach displayed.
The Reds have declined to comment on any speculation surrounding the player, but we can reveal after Van Dijk made his decision, officials from the Merseyside club are now in talks with Southampton over the fee.
And we understand that Liverpool - who have so far yet to make an official offer to Saints - will have to match the £60m that Manchester City were prepared to pay for the 25 year old.
Talks are ongoing, but Liverpool WILL be prepared to match City’s offer, and then thrash out a contract that could be worth £200,000 a week to Van Dijk.

Vieira cools St Etienne talk

Patrick Vieira has dismissed reports linking him with the vacant coaching position at St Etienne.
Former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Vieira, currently head coach at City’s New York sister club, has been linked with the Ligue 1 outfit following the resignation of the long-serving Christophe Galtier.
But he told the New York Post: “Of course I will stay here. I set out on a long-term project with New York City. “The only thing is you can’t control reports from journalists.
“The thing is that it is a really interesting project and I am into it. I love every single day of it. “Speculation is part of our world and I get used to it.”

Arsenal get double transfer blow

Arda Turan has no interest in joining Arsenal this summer, while Wojciech Szczesny wants to remain at Roma - despite suggestions Juventus are prepared to pay £14million to sign him.
Arsene Wenger has been a long-standing admirer of Barcelona’s Turkish midfielder, whose opportunities have been limited since arriving at Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
And Szczesny is more keen on staying at the Stadio Olimpico, rather than switching to Turin.

Fiorentina swoop for Hugo

Fiorentina have replaced the departing Gonzalo Rodriguez by signing Brazilian defender Vitor Hugo from Palmeiras.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, just over a week after Argentinian centre-back Rodriguez made his last appearance for La Viola in a 2-2 Serie A draw with Pescara. Rodriguez is now a free agent after opting against extending his contract in Tuscany.
Vitor Hugo, whose arrival at Fiorentina was announced on the club’s official website, won the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil during his time with Palmeiras.

Killie confirm boss

Kilmarnock have appointed Lee McCulloch as their new manager on a permanent vasis.
The former Rangers star has been in interim charge at Rugby Park since February but has now landed the job full-time.
He said: “I am thrilled to be taking on the role of manager at Kilmarnock. I have gained invaluable experience at the club, both as assistant manager and interim manager, and believe I am ready to take on the challenges of a Premiership manager I am extremely grateful to have loyal, committed players and coaching staff, as well as the support of the Board, staff and fans”.

Robertson unsure over future

Andy Robertson has put talk over his future on hold until Scotland’s international games are out of the way.
The Hull defender has been linked with a summer switch to Liverpool, but said:
The only thing I can really say is that all the players face uncertainty. There will be people moving on but, for now, I’m just focusing on this game in front of us. I do that because it’s so massive for the country.
All I can do is play as well as I can on the day, and I’ll worry about my future after that. I’ll sit down after this game with the people I need to talk to, and decide if it’s right for me to stay at Hull, or if I should look to move on. That’s not something I’m going to worry about until well into the summer.”

Roma president on Mo Salah to Liverpool

The Roma president, James Palotta, has today been speaking on Mohamed Salah’s potential move to Liverpool.
The American declared:
“There’s nothing in it at the moment.
“We continue to receive offers for many of our players and if we were to listen to all of them, we’d lose three quarters of the squad. Now we’ll see what to do.”
However, it’s understood that the Reds are closing on the Egyptian, in a £35million deal.

And PSG want Allegri too!

Speaking of PSG, Gazzetta dello Sport say they want Max Allegri to replace Unai Emery.
Emery didn’t win the Ligue 1 title last year and saw his side crumble in Barcelona in the Champions League.

Pepe 'off to PSG'

Left out of the Real Madrid squad at the weekend, it seems Pepe is effectively fourth choice at the Bernabeu now.
Raphael Varane has taken his place alongside Sergio Ramos at the heart of defence, and Nacho is now seemingly the first deputy.
As such, it seems the veteran could leave this summer after a decade at the club - and PSG have reportedly agreed a deal.
According to Marca, a deal was struck in Cardiff on Saturday night, with PSG owner Nasser Al Khelaifi and Jorge Mendes thrashing out terms.

Wigan have snapped up Chey Dunkley from Oxford.
The 25-year-old will arrive on a three-year deal once his contract expires.
A decent addition for new Latics boss Paul Cook.

Where YOUR club needs to spend?

More than half-a-billion will be spent by the three north west giants Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City this summer.
All three clubs will have their sights set on glory in both the Premier League and Champions League.
And Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have all been promised the biggest transfer budgets in the history of their clubs.
City have already splashed out close to £80million on two players - and Guardiola will keep on spending big.
United won’t be far behind as they look to give Mourinho the funds to bring the big trophies back to Old Trafford, while Liverpool are handing Klopp funds to strengthen further.
That trio are far from the only ones set to spend big, at both ends of the table.
Sean Dyche needs to keep the Clarets punching above their weight, as will Swansea after stepping away from the drop zone under Paul Clement.
Huddersfield, Brighton and Newcastle will all look to invest in their quest to stay in the top flight after promotion.

Wenger and Gazidis in France?

Arsenal fans might want to sit down for this one.
Arsene Wenger has been spotted in France...with Ivan Gazidis.
OK, the Gunners boss could well have returned to his homeland for a holiday but why is the Arsenal chief executive with him?
They’ve been pictured in Nice - so could talks with Kylian Mbappe be on the cards?
Maybe, just maybe.

Sczesny heading for Juve?

Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly on the verge of joining Juventus.
According to Sky Sports, a €16m deal has been agreed with Arsenal.
The Pole has impressed at Roma but will surely only join Juve as No.2 - for the short-term at least.

Roma respond to Salah rumours

This one is set to go on and on.
As Mirror Football revealed, Liverpool are closing in on a £35m move for Mohamed Salah.
But Jim Pallotta, president of current club Roma have suggested no deal is close to completion.
With these questions you seem like the Roman reporters!

In any case, there’s nothing in it at the moment.

We continue to receive offers for many of our players and if we were to listen to all of them, we’d lose three quarters of the squad. Now we’ll see what to do.

Di Maria to Barca?

Lionel Messi is planning to persuade his Argentine team-mate Angel di Maria to sign for Barcelona according to reports in France.
Di Maria has been strongly linked with a move to the Catalan giants as a possible replacement for Arda Turan who is attracting interest from Arsenal.
The former Manchester United forward is seen as the ideal player to come into the Barcelona squad as new head coach Ernesto Valverde looks to help his side challenge for the La Liga title once again next season.
Di Maria has managed to get his career back on track at Paris Saint-Germain following a nightmare spell at Old Trafford and is attracting interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.
French newspaper Le Parisien is claiming that Barcelona are now leading the chase to clinch his signature.

Ajax youngster Kasper Dolberg wants to stay with the club, his agent Jens Steffensen has confirmed.
The Dane enjoyed an excellent season, scoring 23 times in all competitions.
Manchester United are one of a number of clubs to be linked.
Nothing is concrete yet. He is currently preparing for the [Denmark] games against Germany and Kazakhstan.

No club has submitted an offer to Ajax. I can tell you one thing - all the top European clubs have asked about him.

But we haven’t seen any concrete or written offers yet.

His goal is to stay at Ajax for another year.

Roberts closes in on Celtic move

Celtic are closing in on a deal for Patrick Roberts.
Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage with Manchester City with the young striker who proved such a hit during the Bhoys’ record-breaking unbeaten season.
But the sticking point is the price, with Celtic prepared to pay £5m for the England U20 starlet.
City paid £12m to land the 20 year old from Fulham in 2015, and after an impressive season at Celtic Park, boss Pep Guaridola is still a fan… and so would hope to recoup much of that fee.
City though, are keen to offload as many as 12 players this summer, and if Celtic can get closer to the money City paid two years ago, then they will complete a deal.

Given eyes Championship move

Shay Given is hoping for another season as a No.1 - even if it is in the Championship.
The Irish goalkeeper is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Stoke.
He admits he would be willing to play as back-up in the top-flight but would relish the chance to play regularly again.
QPR are considering a move.
I do feel I could go on for another year, be it as a number two or three in the Premier League, or number one in the Championship.

There are a couple of options, which is encouraging. I know if the phone doesn’t ring by the end of the window, then I won’t be moping around because the party is over, but I do feel I could play another year, definitely.

Dortmund snap up French youngster

The 17-year-old is set to arrive from PSG ahead of next season.
They’ve pipped a number of clubs to his signature.

Reds eye double Leipzig raid

Jurgen Klopp wants both Naby Keita and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig - but is set to fail in his bid for both.
The Liverpool chief is keen on both the Guinean all-action midfielder and top-scorer Werner, reports the Sun.
But RBL have little intention of cashing in on either, ahead of a Champions League campaign next term.
A prohibitive €50million price tag has been slapped on the head of Keita, as Leipzig look to ward off potential suitors.
And Germany international Werner has little interest in moving just one year after his €10million arrival from Stuttgart.
The 21-year-old scored 21 times in the Bundesliga this season and is now off to the Confederations Cup - hoping to impress Jogi Low as he bids to force his way into Die Mannschaft’s World Cup squad.

Isco staying put

Isco has ended speculation over his future by insisting he wants a new deal at Real Madrid.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the Premier League with United and Chelsea reportedly keen.
But after impressing in the Champions League final, he committed his future to Los Blancos.
My contract? I hope to renew soon and there’s no better place to play football than Madrid.

If I knew that things would end like this, I’d take it every season.

I could’ve never dreamt of this, but it’s thanks to this family, who made it easier.

Deulofeu coy over future

Gerard Deulofeu has remained tight-lipped over his future.
The Spaniard joined AC Milan on loan from Everton in January and impressed in the Serie A.
He is set to return to Goodison for pre-season but his future is uncertain.
Maybe sometimes I’ve thought too much in the future. I’m living a very good moment in football and in the personal field, I’m calm.

I have to think about the national team right now and then I have to choose the best option.

It will be a busy summer in my case but I’m calm and everything will work out for sure.

Hazard open to Real Madrid move

Eden Hazard is open to an offer from Real Madrid because he wants to win the Champions League.
The Chelsea playmaker still has three years to run on his £200,000-a-week contract but has yet to sign a new deal.
Coach Antonio Conte admitted it would be difficult to keep any player who wants to leave.
And asked if he would be interested in moving to the European champions, Hazard said:
Of course I will look at that. Honestly, I do not know what will happen to me.

I only know that I have three years left on my contract with Chelsea and that we had a great season last year with the coach and the players. We want to go on with the Champions League next year.

Reds won't give up on Van Dijk

Liverpool won’t give up on Virgil van Dijk - and are ready to match Manchester City’s offer for the defender.
As the Sunday Mirror revealed , City are in pole position to land the Southampton skipper in a £60million deal.
Van Dijk is set to trouser over £200,000-a-week in a monster five-year deal that will make him the world’s most expensive defender.
The Reds are willing to compete with both their rivals by offering van Dijk a similar financial package, reports the Liverpool Echo.
But Liverpool face a real battle to convince the Dutchman to move to Anfield.
City and Chelsea have both put forward their own strong cases with the decision now ultimately down to the player

Latest on Martial's future

Anthony Martial’s agent has played down talk of the Frenchman leaving Manchester United.
Reports have emerged that United are looking to sell Martial this summer after the 21-year-old failed to convince Jose Mourinho.
He managed just eight goals last season and has been publicly criticised by Mourinho, reports the Manchester Evening News.
But his agent Philippe Lamboley has cleared up the rumours.
Martial has two years left and there is no reason for him to leave Manchester today .
If Ed Woodward tells me they want him to leave, things are different.
But that is not what he told me during our last meeting.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to commit himself to Arsenal for the most important time of his career.

But Arsenal have made it clear they are determined to keep him and have begun talks over a new deal worth in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Arsenal are confident that 23-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain will snub the chance to move north and join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to stay at the Emirates.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already moved to try to tie up a deal within the next few weeks.

Salah is believed to be ready to sign a £100,000-a-week deal and is keen for the switch with Liverpool eager to bolster their squad.
