Invalid pin: JAMB reveals why, issues 9 new warnings to candidates

Since the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) started the sale of the 2017 University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) form, candidates have been finding it hard to their registration.

Some have been complaining about
getting the pin to be used to register for the exam.

According to the board, its attention has been drawn to cases of candidates who
have bought ePINS and have not been able to proceed with their registration.

We gathered from JAMB Twitter handle that the cause of the invalid pin being experienced by candidates was due to a very high rate of candidates buying ePINS without creating their profile first,
incorrect email address provided at the bank teller and unforeseen technical issues in the PIN vending system.

JAMB has issued warning to candidates doing their registration, asking them not
buy new pins in case of invalid pins.

Here is what the board wants candidates to know about ePINs.

1. Candidates should NOT buy new pins
in the case of invalid pins as the cause of the invalid pin has been investigated.

2. All candidates having invalid pins responses have already been captured on the system and will receive their PIN details.

3. Emails with candidate name, email and valid pins will be sent to candidates.

4. Before proceeding to buy the ePIN, candidates MUST create their profiles.

The ePIN vendors (banks) can create the
profile before vending the pin.

5. Each candidate’s email address will be verified on the system before ePINS are vended.

6. Any candidate with an incorrect email address will not be served. Therefore,
candidates are required to enter the same valid email address twice.

7. All candidates are to ensure that they provide valid phone numbers

8. Candidates have been warned against
patronizing fraudsters and encouraged to utilise only JAMB accredited CBT Centers.
